MKCPP member Deborah James, a colon cancer survivor, runs a Human Resources (HR) consultancy called James HR based near Milton Keynes.

Cancer Employment Advice Service
By the end of 2016, more than 1,000 people will be diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK (Source: Macmillan). It’s also understood that there are 560,000 people in the UK currently working with cancer (Source: Working with Cancer). James HR Consultancy has first-hand experience of the impact of cancer on day-to-day life and the effect it has on work.
During 2015, at age just 35 Deborah James was diagnosed with bowel cancer; this was unexpected and turned her life upside-down. Shortly after her diagnosis she underwent emergency surgery and a further 6 months of intense chemotherapy.
Deborah was keen to look at how she could support businesses, cancer patients and those impacted or affected by cancer within the workplace. After lots of research and planning Deborah created a Cancer Employment Advice Service.
