Aged just 60 years old, two-times cancer survivor Richard Freeman experienced a recurrence in Spring 2017. After being hospitalised for a week he was at home doing well with treatment, but after a sudden crisis he was readmitted and passed away on Easter Sunday morning.
He had been a member of the MKCPP for several years and was instrumental in spearheading a number of projects for the Partnership, not least of which was the recent initiative “Cancer & Beyond” which is leading the way in rolling out post-cancer treatment care and rehabilitation into local MK GP practices. This is in parallel, now, with Macmillan’s “Living With and Beyond Cancer” which is their national initiative.
Richard, a retired construction company director, also used his excellent contacts and cheery, persuasive personality to engage donations of building and other materials plus plants and other goods which have made a wonderful difference to the courtyard gardens outside the Macmillan Cancer Unit at MK Hospital.
He was exactly the can-do person we truly appreciate and need in the MKCPP … and his passing has a left a hole in our close-knit group that can never be refilled.
His wife is Vanessa Freeman Gwynn, and their home is in south-east MK.
